In the summer of 2004, as part of a legal challenge to the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act filed in New York by the National Abortion Federation, U.S. Federal District Judge Richard C. Casey presided over a trial, during which he directly questioned a number of abortionists regarding their performance of partial-birth abortions.
